Numbers 6:24-26 “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”

Family, Faith, and the Future

From its conception, Strong Tower Haiti has been focused on creating FAMILY. It has been the prayerful goal of Strong Tower Haiti to provide a loving, Christian, safe family home for the girls who would come into care. We thank the Lord our God for allowing this to come to fruition, providing for every need along the way.

The make-up of families changes, as you know, with each birthday of the children involved. All of the sudden we realize we are no longer parenting small children but have a household of young men and young women. This phenomenon has not skipped over the family at STH, as we find ourselves thinking of the “Strong Tower girls” being children, but alas they are growing up, too!!

My husband and I are getting used to the empty nest, but that did not come easily and without lots of prayer! We are finding that the “empty nest syndrome” is soon to be a reality for STH,, and we want to be in prayer regarding this transition for the parents, the girls, the church family, and the community!

Proverbs 22:6  “Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.”

Our Heavenly Father,

What a privilege it is to bring this to you in prayer, as you are our good, good Father. It is the father’s love and guidance that families seek for wisdom and leadership, and we surely desire that from You now. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for being the father to the fatherless and the way for us to follow.

As the young ladies at Strong Tower are now growing older, we desire to serve them in the best possible way…Your way. We desire to lead and guide them in such a way, that no matter what the next steps are for them, they will take those next steps carrying you, Lord, into the future. Whatever the next steps entail for these young ladies, we pray that they will seek You in all that they do and that they would carry your love and guidance with them. We pray that they will seek your wisdom and listen for your voice to show them the way. We ask, Lord, that you would open doors for each girl, as her time comes to finish school and to look toward the future, showing them the next steps.

We pray that provision will be given for education, for housing, for extended family connections when possible, for jobs and careers, for friendships and for relationships. We pray for your hand to move in these situations and that your voice would be clear in each situation. We ask that you grant wisdom to the girls but also to the house mothers, administration, board members, and the church family as we seek to support the next steps. Jesus, we know that you love the girls and this ministry. We thank you that we can seek your face in all that we do involving STH. We lay this at your feet and we trust You in the next steps. Thank you for caring for this family. Amen.

** My husband and I only have one son, who is now 29 years old, married to Samantha, with a 4 month old baby, Henry. We are so thankful for God’s many blessings in raising our son, and we are so grateful to have been able to lift the empty nest times up to the Lord. He surely sustained us and our son as we learned to maneuver that time. We see now that 19 young ladies at STH involve all the more prayer and guidance. Thank you for praying for them now and into the future as you think of them, as well.

Blessings,  Sonya Swallow….Champion for STH!
