Understandably, this is the most frequently asked question that Strong Tower receives.
Haiti’s struggle with extreme poverty, joblessness, fuel shortages, and since January, 71% inflation, continues. Around Port-au-Prince, turmoil and unrest add exponential hardship to the lives of everyone in this region.
Please join Strong Tower and millions of others in praying without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17) for God’s mercy and peace to reign in Haiti. Thank you!
The church that Strong Tower Haiti partners with is located in Caracol, a fishing village on northeastern coast of Haiti, far from the tumult in southern Haiti.
Mission teams fly directly from Florida to Cap-Haitien, the largest city in the north. Pastor Payot and Strong Tower staff pick up mission team members at the airport and take them safely to Caracol. The drive is about 40 minutes to the east (please see the map below).
As a matter of due diligence, we always check in with Pastor Payot and other organizations in northern Haiti regarding any safety and security concerns they may have before we move forward with a mission trip.
About 90% of the time, the response is “Come. All is quiet here.”
As we all respond obediently to God’s call to go “care for the orphan and widow in their distress” (James 1:27), God’s faithfulness rushes in to go before us (Deut. 31:8), to be our rear guard (Isaiah 58:8), and to fill us to the measure of all the fullness of God (Ephesians 3:19).
Truly, our lives “are hidden with Christ in God” (Colossians 3:3). It’s the best place to be.
